New Feature: The Pallet Tribune Oekaki

OekakiHere

Greetings everyone! We have recently added a brand new feature to the site: an Oekaki! Unfortunately, you will have to re-register to the Oekaki, since it will not use your Forum account. Please make your Oekaki name exactly the same as your Forum name!

Don’t know what an Oekaki is? Forum-member Rin has kindly written up a small guide to what an Oekaki is. Check it out after the break!

[The Pallet Tribune Oekaki]

Oekaki by Rin

“Oekaki” is a Japanese word meaning “doodle” or “scribble.”  Oekaki boards are in many ways like a Paint Chat.  They use Java applets to allow you to draw in your browser with your mouse or, if you have one, a tablet.  Oekaki boards are a bit more complex than Paint Chats.  Most Oekaki Boards have several applets you can choose from, each with their own quirks and complexities, ranging from the simpler PaintBBS applet, to the more complex Shi-Painter Pro.  They also allow you to comment on your own, and other member’s, pieces

Once you have drawn your image, you can hit the Send button (or Save, depending on the applet) and your image will be saved to the Oekaki Board.  ALWAYS REMEMBER to hit the Print Screen key, or if you use a Mac, hit Apple+Shift+3, before using the Send button on the Oekaki.  Rarely, the applet may glitch and the image may be lost when it is attempting to save, so always save a screenshot first.

Once the image is done saving (only hit the Send button once!) you will have the opportunity to title your drawing and provide a comment about it.  Once you are finished, the image will be automatically uploaded to the Oekaki board for all the other users to see and comment on.

Images on an oekaki board will not last forever.  There is a limit, set by the owner of the board, as to how many images may be saved at one time.  Once the max number is reached, the oldest pictures will be deleted as new pictures are saved.  So if you wish to keep your drawing, or link to it from elsewhere, please save the image to your computer and upload it to a permanent image hosting service like Photobucket.
