The original pair of Pokemon games were ranked 26 on a list of 50 most influential games of all time by Guiness World Records.
While I can totally get behind the games being topped by such industry-changing legends as Final Fantasy VII (20) and Tetris (2), I don’t quite see how Pro Evolution Soccer 4 (21) and Lego Star Wars Complete Saga (23) are as influential games as something like Pokémon that has spawned such a thriving fandom, not to mention its continued influence on pop culture and the media.
I’m not the only one who thinks the list is out of whack; Brian Crecente, managing editor of Kotaku.com, called the list “straight out of crazy town.”

Hello, people of the Internet. This is Ducky von Karma, coming to you live from the basement I am currently trapped in. Since I can think of no better thing to do while I slowly run out of oxygen, I am presenting the lot of you with my review of Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia.
Having played the first game and finding it acceptable, I decided to treat myself to another new game and splurged on Shadows of Almia. I heard the story is better (not a difficult feat) and that the wrist-shattering gameplay is toned down a few notches. I have to agree; the gameplay is wrist-ABUSING, but certainly lacking the devastating qualities of its predecessor.

The wait for an official European release date for Pokémon Platinum finally ended today, as Nintendo of Europe has confirmed the May 22nd date posted at Pokemon-France.com earlier this month.
This news will be especially welcome, as it will also put to rest the confusion caused a few days ago, when British entertainment store HMV gave the title the much later date of July 31st – thankfully, Nintendo has confirmed that UK gamers will be able to experience the new features abundant in Platinum – including the Distortion World and the return of the Battle Frontier – at the same time as mainland Europe.
Seeming to be on a roll with breaking news, Pokemon-France.com are also running an article suggesting that French pre-orders of the game may also merit the same Giratina figure being given to those pre-ordering in North America – the article confirms nothing for definite as yet, merely suggesting that “a similar operation will be put in place” to bring the bonus to Europe – but, of course, they’ve been right with their news before…
The full press release from Nintendo can be found on the link provided below and features an in-depth list of the new features that will be headed for Europe in just a few short months time.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game has come a long way since 1998 , and even though many of the older cards might not be tournament legal now, the first three sets – Base Set, Jungle, and Fossil – had some good cards that can certainly benefit any casual deck.
While having strong Pokémon (with good resistances and low retreat costs, naturally) is all well and good, it’s sometimes beneficial to do stuff other than attack, like draw cards for example. That’s where Trainer Cards come in. You use them during your turn before attacking, and they can do wonders.
The first three sets had some valuable Trainer Cards, and I’m going to discuss what I view to be the top 10 such cards.

The arrival of Platinum is just around the corner! As I’m sure we all know, Pokemon Platinum will be released on March 22nd. As an added bonus, Nintendo will be giving out a limited Giratina figure to anyone who pre-orders the game! Keep in mind, though. You won’t be getting the figure until you pick up the actual game.
This Giratina figure (as can be seen on the image) is about 2.75 inches tall, and was designed by the Kaiyodo Company. Kaiyodo is an esteemed figurine and model kit company, and are well-known for their “Revoltech” line of anime-based figures.
Though the press release didn’t include a list of participating retailers, GameStop has already guaranteed their participation. Other potential retailers include GameCrazy, Best Buy, and Toys R Us.
