If you were listening carefully to the latest episode of the podcast, you may have heard KC talk about a person waiting in line with us at the Nintendo World Store at the Platinum party or more specifically, about his cool T-shirt. Well, here it is! Sharkrobot.com has a number of cool video game and web comic shirts, including a number of Pokémon references.
Some of the site’s other designs are a zombie pikachu, an “Eat, Sleep, Breathe Video Games” menu screen from VG Cats and a rather vulgar Professor Oak shirt also from VG Cats.
Thanks to Jack for the tip!
It is time yet again, for another giant Pokemon competition! No, this isn’t the WTPTC! In fact, the new Pokemon Showdown (now renamed the Pokemon Video Game Championships) will start its circuit on May 9th!
The tournament battles will be 2 vs 2 Double Battles, with 4 to 6 Pokemon on each team. There will be two age divisions in the Championship: Senior (12 years old and older) and Junior (11 years old and younger). Sadly, only 128 Trainers will be randomly chosen from each age division in order to compete for a chance to fly to the June 27th National Championship in St. Louis, Missouri!
Don’t you worry, though! Even if you don’t make it to the top, every competitor will receive a level 50 Shiny Milotic for their efforts. This Milotic will have the ability “Marvel Scale” (which is the only ability a Milotic can have), and will know Rain Dance, Recover, Hydro Pump, and Icy Wind. Its Held Item will be a “Flame Orb”, and its Ribbon will be a “Classic Ribbon”. Pretty tempting, eh?
Remember, all prospective participants MUST use Pokemon Platinum, or they will not be able to qualify. Good luck to all the Tribunites that’ll be attending this event, and for those of you who are fortunate enough to be chosen as a competitor…happy battling
The Championship schedule will be posted after the break!
Obviously, anyone who reads this site would make one of Japan’s Pokémon Centers a definite stop on any tour of the country, but apparently, we’re far from the only ones.
According to TripAdvisor’s list of the top 20 hotspots visitors to the Land of the Rising Sun want to see, the Pokémon Center ranked #3. TripAdvisor even goes a little deeper, saying that Americans are the third most likely nationality to put the center on their top 5 list of places to visit. There are currently five Pokémon Centers throughout Japan, including Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Yokohama and Sapporo.

It looks like this spring is a busy time to be at a Toys ‘R’ Us store – just when everyone’s managed to catch their breath after the recent Shaymin and Regigigas giveaways, PokemonPlatinum.com has announced that another treat on the horizon.
This time it’ll be everyone’s favourite plasma-ghost Rotom getting all the attention, with the release of the “Secret Key,” allowing players of Pokémon Platinum to visit a hidden room in Eterna City and change the little guy into one of five different forms, each with its own powerful special attack. Are your foes mocking your uninspiring team? Imagine their faces when you throw a ghostly refrigerator into the fray!
The Secret Key will be obtainable from Toys ‘R’ Us stores across the US and Canada from April 19th through until April 26th, but more interestingly, it’ll also be available to download via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection from the comfort of your own squashy armchair at home, from April 20th through May 12th (internet connection required; squashy armchair optional).
Downloading the gift over Wi-Fi works in much the same way as getting it from Toys ‘R’ Us, via Mystery Gift – but full instructions for acquiring and using the Secret Key are available at PokemonPlatinum.com – so whichever method suits you best, your Rotom will be ready to possess toaster ovens and lawnmowers in no time. Enjoy!
