The first trailer and pictures from the upcoming Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver games were released this week.
While I’m as interested as any of you to see this footage, the commentary by the cast of the Pokémon Sunday show in Japan seems to be a bit overdone - especially when you consider that the trailer (while in HD) is just the main character pacing back and forth with a Chikorita behind him. Still, the graphics certainly are pretty, and you can see a shimmering light effect on the screen which leads me to believe that we can expect more visual effects to come.
Confirmation that Pokémon Yellow’s mechanic of having your starter Pokémon as your walking buddy is good to see, and spurs speculation about what else may be added.

This makes me even more excited for this game. Based on all the news I’m hearing, this game looks like its going to be more realistic than the others.

I disagree, bear in mind this was almost certainly done on a childrens show. The over-exaggerated expressions and exclamations would’ve been directed at kids, not adults. Plus, it’s Japan, it’s what they do.
Still, the game does look good.

Graphics-wise, it looks good so far. But those Pokemon Sunday people need to chill… “Wow, look, he can walk left AND right!” “Oh my god, up and down, too! Amazing!”

I love that the pokemon follow you. That was my favorite special feature about yellow that set it apart from blue and red. I look forward to making my pokemon dance by putting him on the other side of a ledge again.

That little sprite looked more like a Gulpin than a Chikorita.
I like the walking buddy mechanic as well. I caught this video over at Pokebeach before I came here. Looks good!
I like the small details, but the sun might get irritating after a while… I have a feeling that this is going to be a mixed bag.

Good games, Nintendo. Taunting with your walking. Good thing I can just turn my old Silver version on and see the places that’ll be updated. I can’t wait to see them in NICE graphics, and I also can’t wait to have my old Gold version team back. FlameKing, here I come!

Some other several picture I’ve notice that the started had been following the trainer. Now the oddest picture i’ve seen was Cyndaquil and the Trainer at Ercuteak City near the tower. By now, that Cyndaquil should have evolve. Really Odd. (or the trainer just don’t want to evolve it)
Yeah I agree with KC. The commentary seems way overdone for footage of just the character walking around. I hope we get to see more soon. Still, any footage we can get, especially this soon after the announcement, is worth seeing.
