New Melee! Pokemon Scramble! for WiiWare

Ever since Pikachu was included in the Smash Bros series, us PokéFanatics have always pined for a full-fledged Pokémon game based on that melee-style fighting system. Well, it seems our hopes and wishes have finally come true…somewhat.

A LOT more details after the break.

It seems the Official Pokémon Website have released info regarding a new Pokémon game through WiiWare called “Melee! Pokémon Scramble!”

Within the game, you must collect and train toy pokemon to battle in an arena-style landscape. The battle system itself is a real time, PowerStone-esque brawler, where the player can control an individual Pokemon. So far, it seems like each Pokemon can only learn 2 moves (as opposed to the usual 4), and can be controlled with a single Wiimote or the Wiimote and Nunchuck.

The game includes various modes, including a dungeon based Story Mode as well as a 4-player Stadium mode. The Story Mode will run you through various dungeons and will give you the ability to catch* the Pokemon you defeat, as well as battle various larger “Boss” Pokemon. This Mode will include the ability to play with a 2nd person in Co-op, and the ability to take pictures of what’s happening on screen (like in My Pokémon Ranch).

Another excellent feature in this game includes the ability to store your Melee! Pokémon in your Wiimote in order to use them on other people’s Wii consoles. Wi-Fi features have not been announced yet.

Melee! Pokémon Scramble! is set to release on June 16th in Japan and will cost 1500 Wii Points. Unfortunately, no North American release date is in sight, but know that we will keep you guys up to date if any further details pop up!

  3. TheThunderBringer says:

Indeed. I hope it’s not like 20000 wii points >.<

  4. Justin V says:

It’s 1500 Wii Points, as specified in the article.

  5. Lucas755 says:

Cool. It does look like it may have 4 attacks, though. That Pikachu appeared to be using Tackle, Thundershock, and some other more powerful electric attack.

    It looks so fun. :D
I’ve never thought the Wiimote would be able to store memory like that. Is there any other game able to do that?

  8. Joninpikachu says:

Definitely going to wait for some customer feedback before I buy it.

  12. Lucario04 says:

I can’t wait for this. It even has bosses and a storyline! I just can’t wait

  13. 8robome says:

    looks cool

  14. Justin V says:

Unfortunately, the game only allows for 2 attacks per Pokemon at a time, since each move is mapped to the 1 and 2 buttons on the Wiimote.

  15. Cadget says:

This looks odd to me. When you beat a pokemon, you sometimes recruit it, so the problem with this, is that why would you want it if it’s weaker than your current pokemon?

  16. JakeDaSnake says:

You could make it better than your current, or keep it because you like it more. And to answer the statement made by Lucas755, I think all the Pokemon will have a tackle-type attack, since anyone can tackle something.

  17. Andrew789 says:

this is sort of what i wanted mystery dungeon to be like, full fledged 3-d

  18. PikaBelleChu says:

Looks like a cross between Ranch and Dungeon.

  19. mango-flygon says:

my life is complete, Nintendo, get out of my mind!

  20. Trogdor says:

I heard them say Battle Royal. But with Pokemon. I cannot wait to see that happen.

  21. RocketGrunt Brad says:

Now this looks like a lot of fun, can’t wait to try it! :D
