The Pokémon Company has announced that they will be revealing a new Pokemon RPG in the February 2010 edition of CoroCoro Comics (think Shonen Jump).
For now, we can only speculate as to whether this is the upcoming Fifth Generation or not, though there was some mention of “a rebirth” and “new Pokémon”. The only non-ambiguous details we have about this game is that it’s an RPG and that it will be released (in Japan) this year. Thank you, Google Translate.
Since the Mystery Dungeon series is also technically an RPG, there is the slight possibility that the announcement will be an expansion to that game-line. Then again, the developer on the main site is stated to be GameFreak, and they usually work exclusively on the main-line Pokémon games.
Let’s just hope that this announcement will lead to some interesting results

Best part is is that a lot of people at my school are admitting they still play Pokemon (those little posers) now that it’s actually cool in high school. I wouldn’t count on this being the Generation 5 though…

i really really really hope this IS NOT a gen 5. that would completly ruin my childhood and everything i love about it. it would kill part of me on the inside if they ruined pokemon with it. even if it was the best pokemon game ever, i still would hate it. i really dont want to see one of my favorite things ever be destroyed and burning while i can only look upon it hopelessly. oh well……

I hope that you all realize this is NOT an MMO-RPG, but just another RPG like the normal Pokemon story.
Sadly, it is possible that it is Gen 5. I think the more they do, the less creative they become. Oh well, I’ll get it anyways.

I read up a little more of it on Bulba, and it says it’ll be for DS.
If it is for the DS, it is possible that it is the new Pokémon Ranger: Tracks of Light
I like the portability of the DS, so I’d much rather it be for DS than Wii.
But we need to remember that it would be released probably late 2010 in JAPAN, so for the US release we will probably wait until March/April 2011.
i want there to be a gen 5 but also i want them to reinvent the series as a whole. the games need a make over and i think and hope that this could be the game to do it.
