Countdown to Platinum: Characters & Setting

We’re baaaaaaack, with more of the… COUNTDOWN TO PLATINUM .

Since all of the new Wi-Fi features have been sufficiently covered, today we’re going to be covering changes to the plot, new characters, and even some new Pokémon forms being featured in Platinum.

WARNING. THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS.

First things first: Sinnoh is changing before our very eyes. The once happy, summertime atmosphere has changed to a winter wonderland. Snow covers the ground wherever you go, and the main characters are appropriately attired for the flash freeze. Countdown to Platinum: Wi-Fi Plaza

Hello and welcome once again to the COUNTDOWN TO PLATINUM with Ducky von Karma~!

I’m going to cut the chit-chat today and get straight to the topic: The Wi-Fi Plaza.

Not satisfied with battles? Bored with trading? Fear not! The Wi-Fi Plaza has come, and it promises an exciting and fun assortment of wonders!**

**actual amounts of excitement and fun may vary

So what exactly awaits you in the Wi-Fi Plaza? Slip into the lower level of the Pokémon center of your choice and be immersed in the wild, crazy world of throwing berries at Swalot. What? That doesn’t send shivers of anticipation down your spine? What about pumping a Wobbuffet with air until it pops? Still nothing? There’s always balancing Mime Jr. on a ball! Hmm. You’re a tough bunch to please.

Maybe you’d be more enticed to make a Wobbuffet explode if you knew what the incentive was. If you perform well in the Plaza Games, you can win your very own Tap Toy. What is a Tap Toy, you ask? In the Wi-Fi Plaza, your Pokétch disappears from the bottom screen and is replaced with one of a variety of little symbols that make noise when touched. Among the Tap Toys you can receive are a balloon, cymbals, a firecracker, and what appears to be castanets. How they expect the majority of eight-year-olds playing this to know what castanets are is beyond me. Still, there is no small pleasure in having your volume on full in a crowded doctor’s office and crashing cymbals repeatedly. Bonus points if they throw you out before treating you! more…
