Nintendo of Europe Confirms May 22nd Platinum Release

The wait for an official European release date for Pokémon Platinum finally ended today, as Nintendo of Europe has confirmed the May 22nd date posted at Pokemon-France.com earlier this month.

This news will be especially welcome, as it will also put to rest the confusion caused a few days ago, when British entertainment store HMV gave the title the much later date of July 31st – thankfully, Nintendo has confirmed that UK gamers will be able to experience the new features abundant in Platinum – including the Distortion World and the return of the Battle Frontier – at the same time as mainland Europe.

Seeming to be on a roll with breaking news, Pokemon-France.com are also running an article suggesting that French pre-orders of the game may also merit the same Giratina figure being given to those pre-ordering in North America – the article confirms nothing for definite as yet, merely suggesting that “a similar operation will be put in place” to bring the bonus to Europe – but, of course, they’ve been right with their news before…

The full press release from Nintendo can be found on the link provided below and features an in-depth list of the new features that will be headed for Europe in just a few short months time.

Exclusive Giratina Figure with Platinum Preorders

The arrival of Platinum is just around the corner! As I’m sure we all know, Pokemon Platinum will be released on March 22nd. As an added bonus, Nintendo will be giving out a limited Giratina figure to anyone who pre-orders the game! Keep in mind, though. You won’t be getting the figure until you pick up the actual game.

This Giratina figure (as can be seen on the image) is about 2.75 inches tall, and was designed by the Kaiyodo Company. Kaiyodo is an esteemed figurine and model kit company, and are well-known for their “Revoltech” line of anime-based figures.

Though the press release didn’t include a list of participating retailers, GameStop has already guaranteed their participation. Other potential retailers include GameCrazy, Best Buy, and Toys R Us.
