On January 29th, Nintendo has officially revealed pokémon #491, Darkrai to the US. For the past few weeks, we’ve been teased with this pokémon’s silhouette on the front page of Pokemon.com, but its mystifying appearance has finally been exposed to the public for all to see.
Akin to the launch of Manaphy and the 9th Pokémon movie, Nintendo has created a website dedicated to this frightful pokémon (appropriately named darkrai.com). Although the site does not yet provide a way to get your own Darkrai, it does display a gallery of his various appearances through in-game screenshots and movie stills, as well as card scans from the upcoming “Great Encounters” TCG expansion set.
To coincide with the sudden surge of Darkrai information, Cartoon Network had finally announced the official name of the new movie: “The Rise of Darkrai”. They will be airing the movie “months before it plays in theaters” on February 24th at 7pm EST. “The Rise of Darkrai” will be released straight to DVD.
Hopefully, all this Darkrai media would lead to the eventual release of this highly sought-after pokémon.

Visitors to pokemon.com may notice that they’re being shadowed. Not by that creepy neighbor of theirs who hides in the bushes, but rather, by something that could be the bringer of good tidings to American trainers.
The silhouette of a Darkrai, which hovers about the site, may mean the elusive event pokémon will soon be available to Americans in conjunction with the tenth movie, which is to be announced here soon.
Trainers may remember a similar event before the North American release of Manaphy in 2006. At that time, an egg from the legendary pokemon could be seen on the site.
Exactly what the presence of the mysterious silhouette means is uncertain at this time, but we’re all hoping this could be the answer for one of the most requested event pokemon.

Part of every trainer’s experience is traveling the world in search of new sights and adventure. But as most of us can’t explore past our own neighborhoods, let alone Japan, a new blog viewable on the Pokémon website, might be worth checking out.
They call it “It’s Reigning Minh” after the reigning Pokémon North American Champion, Minh Ba Le, a 22 year old from Virginia. But don’t expect to pick up any tips on how to make a winning pokémon team. The blog contains Minh’s experiences and impressions of Japan as he tours the country with his family on an all expenses paid trip that he won in the 2006 Pokémon 10th Anniversary championship for the 13 and up division. You can check out the blog at pokemon.com. Though if you really want to read about a trainer that might be able to teach you something, I suggest you check out my blog, KC’s Log.
